As-Saffat Verse 1 - And I swear by those who lined up in ranks

Those Who Set The Ranks

And I swear by those who lined up in ranks (with reverence before Allah),

by those (the saints of the right and the left wing) who gather and direct,

by those who read (the Qur'ân) by praising.

Most surely your God is indeed One.

Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, and Lord of the Easts (as well).

Surely, We have embellished the sky of the earth with the stars as adornment.

And safeguarding against all rebellious devils.

They cannot eavesdrop to the Melei A'lâ (Exalted Assembly of Angels) and they are castaway from every side.

As an outcast, for them is prepared a constant torment.

However if who (from the devils) snatches off a word, then there follows (reaches and destroys) him a brightly shining flame.

Nay ask them: “Are they stronger as creation or those (others) whom We have created”? Surely We created them of a sticky damp clay.

Yes, you were amazed and yet they mock.

And when they are reminded (explained), they do not deliberate (therefore they cannot believe).

And when they see a Verse (miracle), they scoff.

And they say: “This is nothing but evident magic.

When we are dead and have become dust and bones? Shall we then certainly be raised,

and also our forefathers?”

Say: “Yes, and you shall be despicable and abased”.

So it is only a single cry. Then they will see (when they are resurrected).

And they said: “O woe to us! This is the Day of the Religion”.

This is the Day of the Separation (the just form the unjust, the Day of Judgment) which you called a lie.

Gather together those who did wrong and their mates and what they used to worship (too)

besides Allah. Then return (enter) them to the Path of Hell,

Now arrest them, they are responsible.

What is the matter with you that you do not help one another?

Nay! They are the submitters today (to the guards of hell).

And they question one another by turning to one another.

They say (said): “It was you who used to come to us from the right side (as if you were on Allah’s side).

They say (said): “Nay, you were not believers (you did not wish your spirits to reach Allah before death),

and we had no authority over you, but you were an extravagant people.

So now the Word (of torment) of our Lord has been justified over us. Surely, we are the ones who shall taste it (the Torment).

Yes, we have seduced you, and verily we ourselves have turned aside”.

Then they are on the Day of Permission sharers in the torment.

Surely this is what We do to the guilty.

Surely, when it was said to them: “There is no god but Allah”, they were certainly arrogant

and they say (said): “What! Shall we indeed give up our gods for a mad poet”?

Nay, he has brought the truth and he confirmed the sent Messengers.

Most surely you are the ones who will taste the painful torment

and you shall not be punished except for what you used to do.

Except the Muhlasîn (utterly pure, reached the Post Ihlas) servants of Allah.

For them is a known provision:

fruits, the offerings for them

in paradise of Naîm,

on thrones facing one another.'

Around them will be carried cups (filled) from the springs:

transparent, delicious to the drinkers.

There is nothing in it that deprives the mind and they will not intoxication from it.

And beside them are women who restrain their eyes (turning their eyes only to their husbands) with wide and beautiful eyes.

They are like protected (untouched) eggs.

Then they question mutually turning to one another.

A speaker of them say (said): “Verily, I had a companion,

who asked: “Are you indeed of those who confirmed (the Resurrection)?

Shall we then be certainly to receive punishment, when we are dead and have become dust and bones”?

(The speaker to a friend in paradise) said: “Are you know about his state current”?

Then he looked at his current state and saw him in the midst of the Fire.

Said: “By Allah! You had almost caused me to perish too.

And had it not been for the Gift of my Lord, I would certainly have been of those who were made to be present (to burn in Hell).

We are then not to die (any more) aren’t we? We won't die (one more time),

except our first death? And we shall not be tormented (either)”.

Most surely this is Fevzül Azîm (the Supreme Salvation).

So, let it zealous those who does deedsfor this (for attaining to supreme Salvation).

Is this a treat sent down (from Allah, that to become owners of the Supreme Salvation) better or the tree of Zaqqûm (a tree in Hell)?

Surely We have made it (Zaqqûm) to be a test for the tyrants.

Surely it (Zaqqûm) is a tree that grows in the bottom of Hell!

Its fruits look like the heads of devils.

Then most certainly they are the ones who will eat of it (Zaqqûm) and fill their bellies with it.

Then most surely, they have after it to drink of a mixture prepared in boiling water.

Then most surely their return is to Hell (after they eat from the zakkum tree located in the lowest level of hell, everyone will return to the level of hell to which they belong).

Surely, they found their forefathers being astray,

so in their footsteps they (also) raned.

And I swear, most of them of old (too) were in Darkness.

And I swear, We sent to them Warners.

Then see how the end of those who were warned was!

Except the (all) Muhlasîn servants of Allah, ones.

And I swear, Noah did call upon Us. And how excellent are those whose calls are answered.

And We rescued him (Noah) and his household from the great distress.

And We made his (Noah’s) offspring the remaining ones (until the Day of Resurrection).

And We left for him (an honorable remembrance) among the later generations.

Peace be upon Noah within the Worlds.

Thus do We surely reward the Muhsinûn.

Surely, he is of Our believing servants, (who had obtained all the ranks after wishing to reach Allah).

Then We drowned the others.

And surely, one of those (important) who were of his religion (in the religion of Noah’s) was Abraham.

He had come to his Lord with a submissive heart.

He had said to his father and his people: “What is it that you worship?

Is it by slandering (by forging a lie against Allah) that you desire gods besides Allah?

What then is your conjecture of the Lord of the Worlds?”

Then he took a glance at the stars, looked

and he said: “Surely I am sick”.

So they went away from him, turning their back.

Then he turned aside to their gods and said: “So, do you not eat

or do you not speak”?

Then he knocked (broke) them hitting with his right hand.

Then they (the idolaters) quickly ran to him.

(Abraham) said: “Do you worship what you carved out?

Whereas Allah has created you and what you make”.

They said: “Build up for him high buildings (catapult), then cast him into the blazing fire”!

Then they desired to prepare a plot against him. Upon that we made them the most despicable.

And he said: “Verily, I will be the one reaching my Lord. He will Return me (my spirit will return to Himself).

My Lord, grant me (children) of the righteous ones (Sâlihîn)”.

101

So We gave him the glad tidings of a gentle son.

102

And when he attained to the age of working with him, he said: “O my beloved son! Surely I have seen in a dream that I should sacrifice you. So look (think). What is your opinion about this matter”? (Ishmael) said: “O my beloved father! Do what you are commanded. If Allah wills, you will find me of the patient ones”.

So when they both submitted (to Allah), (Abraham) put him down upon his forehead.

104

And We called out to him: “O Abraham!

105

You have indeed remained faithful to the dream (you have fulfilled the it). Surely thus do We reward the Muhsinîn”.

106

Most surely this is a manifest test.

107

And We gave him a great sacrifice (in place of his son) as a ransom.

108

And We left for him (an honorable remembrance) among the later generations.

109

Peace be on Abraham.

110

Thus do We reward the Muhsinîn (those who submitted their free will to Allah).

111

Surely, he is one of our believing servants (who has obtained all the ranks by wishing to reach Allah).

112

And We gave him the glad tidings of Isaac, a Prophet of the Salihîn (Righteous ones).

113

And, We blessed (We gave abundance to) him (Abraham) and Isaac. And from both of their offspring are the Muhsinîn (who subdued their free will to Allah) and (also) those who plainly wrong themselves.

114

And I swear that We bestowed upon Moses and Aaron.

115

And We saved them both and their people from the great distress.

116

And We helped them so they became the victors.

117

And We gave them both the Book that explained (the truth).

118

And We entered them both the Sıratı Mustakîm (the path of guidance that leads to Allah).

119

And We left for them both (an honorable remembrance) among the later generations.

120

Peace be on Moses and Aaron.

121

Thus do We reward the Muhsinîn (who subdued their free will to Allah).

122

Surely, they are both of Our believing servants (who have earned all the ranks by wishing to reach Allah before death).

123

And verily, Iliyâs (Elias) is of the sent (as Messenger).

124

(Elias) had said to his people: “Will you not be the owners of takwa (spiritual armor)?

125

Do you worship Ba’l (who is an idol)? And forsake the Best of the creators?

126

Allah is your and your forefathers Lord”.

127

But they belied him (Elias). Therefore, they certainly shall be made to be present (in Hell) for sure.

128

Except the Muhlasîn (the utterly pure, who have reached the Post of Ikhlas) servants of Allah.

And We left for him (an honorable remembrance) among the later generations.

130

Peace be upon Iliyâs (Elias).

131

Thus do We reward the Muhsinîn (those who reached Ihlas post).

132

Surely, he is one of Our believing servants (who have earned all the ranks by wishing to reach Allah).

133

And Lût (Lot) is truly one of those sent (Messengers).

134

We saved him and his household altogether,

135

except an old woman, who remained behind.

136

Then We destroyed the others.

137

And surely, you pass by them (see their city) in the morning

138

and at night too. Do you still not then use your intelligence?

139

And Yûnus (Jonah) is one of those sent (Messengers).

140

He had run away to (in) a laden ship.

141

And then he cast lots, and he was of those who lost.

142

So a fish swallowed him (Jonah). He was blameworthy (he was blaming himself).

143

Indeed, had he not been of them who glorified (Allah). ,

144

he would certainly have remained inside its (the fish’s) belly till the Day of Resurrection.

145

And We threw him on a deserted shore, while he was exhausted.

146

And we caused a plant of gourd to grow above him (to create a shadow).

147

And We sent him to a hundred thousand (people) or even more (as a Messenger).

148

So they believed (became âmenû, wished to reach Allah while they were alive). So We gave them provision till a time.

149

Go ahead, ask them an explanation: “Do daughters belong to your Lord, and sons to them?

150

Or did We create the angels as females while they were witnesses”?

151

Now surely it is of their own lie that they say:

152

“Allah has begotten”. Most surely, they are indeed liars.

153

Has (Allah) chosen daughters in preference to sons?

154

What is the matter with you? How do you judge (like this)?

155

Will you not then deliberate?

156

Or do you have a manifest proof?

157

Then bring your Book, if you are truthful.

158

And they set up (invented) a kinship between Allah and the jinn, and certainly the jinn did know that they would be made to be present (in Hell)

159

Glory be to Allah! He is free from what they describe (from their conjecture).

160

Except Muhlasîn (those who have reached the Post of Ikhlas) servants of Allah.

161

After this surely you and what you worship,

162

cannot incite anyone against Him (Allah),

163

except those who will enter Hell.

164

And there is none from us (from the all righteous, who are present at Namaz before the Lord) but has a known rank.

165

And most surely, we are the ones who stand in rows (in the Presence of Allah).

166

And we are most surely the ones who glorify (Allah).

167

And surely, they (the unbelievers) only used to say:

168

“If only we had with us a Reminder (a Book) like the one given to the ones before us,

169

(then) we would certainly have been the Muhlasîn servants of Allah”.

170

Regardless of this, they denied it (the Reminder, the Qur’ân). But they will come to know soon.

171

And I swear, that We (before) gave the Our Word (promised) to Our sent servants,

172

that, most surely, they will certainly be assisted.

173

And most surely Our armies shall be the victorious ones.

174

Therefore turn away from them till a time

175

and watch them! Soon they too shall see.

176

Do they still hastily want Our torment?

177

When it (the torment) shall descend in their territory, evil shall then be the morning of the warned ones.

178

And turn away from them till a time.

179

and watch! Soon they shall see as well.

180

Your Lord, the Most Powerful, the Most Glorified is free of what they ascribe.

181

And peace be on those sent Messengers!

182

And all praise is due to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds!

37:1

Ya-Sin

Sad

وَالصَّافَّاتِ صَفًّا
