Mary

Kâf-Hâ-Yâ-Aîn-Sâd.

(This chapter is) a mention (story) of the Mercy of your Lord to His servant Zachariah.

He quietly called out to your Lord,

said: “Surely I (am weakened) and my bones (too) are weakened and my head became covered with gray hair. And, my Lord, I have never been disobedient (and unfortunate) in my prayer to You.

And surely, I feared my relatives after me (that they will not behave like me) and my wife is now barren. Therefore give me from You a Walî (a friend, a helper, a son, an heir),

which inherit me and inherit from the family of Jacob and make him, my Lord, one who is Well-Pleased with You”.

O Zachariah! Surely, We give you the glad tidings of a son, whose name shall be John (Yahyâ). We have not given this name to anyone before.

(Zachariah) said: “My Lord! How shall I have a son when my wife is barren and I myself have reached extreme old age”?

(The angel) said: “Just like that”. Your Lord says: “It is easy to Me, and indeed I created you before, when you were nothing”.

(Zachariah) said: “My Lord! Appoint for me a sign”. (Allah) said: “Your sign is that you will not speak to the people three nights while in sound health”.

So he went forth to his people from Al-Mihrâb (the Altar), and he revealed to them (with inner voice) that they should glorify (Allah) night and day.

O John Johannes (Yahyâ)! Take hold of (own) the Book with strength (care), and We granted him the Wisdom while yet a child,

and (We gave him) love and purity (soul’s cleansing) from Us and he became the owner of Takwâ (spiritual armor).

And was the owner of Birr (obedience, the best attitude) towards his parents and he was not a disobedient despot.

And peace be on him on the day he was born, and on the day he dies, and on the Day he is raised alive.

And mention Mary (Maryam) in the Book. She had withdrawn from her family to a place toward the east.

Then hid from them behind a veil. Then We sent to her Our spirit (the Holy Spirit). He appeared to her as a regular man.

(Mary) said: “I seek refuge in the Most Beneficent from you. If you are the owner of takwa (no harm would come from you)”.

(He) said: “I am only a Messenger from your Lord that I will grant you a pure boy”.

(She said): “How can I have a son, as no human being has yet touched me, nor have I been unchaste”?

(The Holy Spirit) said: “Just like that”. Your Lord said: “It is easy to me, and that We will make him a sign (miracle) to mankind and a Mercy from Us”. And it is a matter which has already been decreed.

So she conceived him. Then withdrew herself with him to a remote place.

And the pains of childbirth compelled her (to take refuge) to the trunk of a date-palm. (She) said: “Oh, I wish I had died before this, and had been a thing quite forgotten”.

Then a voice out to her from below her came: “Do not grieve; surely your Lord has made a stream to flow under you,

and shake the trunk of date-palm towards you; it will drop on you fresh ripe-dates..

So eat and drink and congratulations! Then if you see anybody, say: “Surely, I have vowed a fast (not to talk) to the Most- Beneficent, so I shall not speak to anyone today”.

And she came to her people carrying him. (Her people) said: “O Mary! Surely you have done a strange (bad) thing.

O sister of Aaron! Your father was not a wicked man, nor was your mother an unchaste woman”.

Then she pointed to him (baby). (They) said: “How should we speak to one who is a baby in the cradle”?

(Baby) said: “Surely I am a servant of Allah. He has given me the Book and made me a prophet.

And He has made me blessed wherever I may be, and He has enjoined on me the Prayer (As-Salât) and the alms giving (Az- Zakât) so long as I live.

And He has commanded me to be the owner of Birr to my mother and He has not made me an unfortunate despot.

And peace be upon me on the day I was born, and on the day I die, and on the Day I am raised up to life alive”.

Such is Jesus, son of Mary. (He) is the Word of the Truth (Hakk/Allah) about which they doubt.

It does not beseem Allah that He should take a son. Glory be to Him! When He decrees a matter, He only says to it “Be”, and it is.

And surely Allah is my Lord and your Lord , therefore become servants to Him! This is Sıratı Mustakîm (the path of guidance that leads to Allah).

After that the groups got into disagreement among themselves. So, woe to those who disbelieve when a great Day will be witnessed.

What surprising things they will be given to hear and see on the Day when they will come to Us. But the tyrants today (still) are obviously in Darkness.

And warn them of the Day of longing, when the matter shall have been fulfilled; and they are in ignorance and they do not believe.

Surely We shall inherit the earth and all those who are on it, and to Us they shall be returned.

And mention in the Book Abraham. Surely, he was a faithful Prophet (who gave lots of alms, was loyal, and always told the truth).

(Abraham) said to his father: “O my father! Why do you worship what neither hears nor sees, nor does it avail you in the least?

O my father! Verily, knowledge has come to me that did not come to you! So, obey me, and I will return (your spirit to Allah) to Sıratı Seviye (the Smooth Path that delivers to Allah).

O my father! Do not do not be a servant to Satan! Surely Satan turned rebellious against the Most-Beneficent.

O my father! Surely, I fear lest a torment from the Most-Beneficent should touch you! In such case you will become a friend of Satan”.

(His father) said: “O Abraham! Do you not value my gods? If you do not desist (from this), I will certainly stone you, and depart from me a long while.

(He) said: “Peace be on you! I will ask my Lord to replace your sins with good. Surely, He is Ever Most Gracious unto me.

And I am withdrawing from you and what you call on besides Allah, and I am calling upon my Lord. Maybe I shall not be disobedient in calling upon my Lord (I will not be miserable and will not enter hell)”.

So when he withdrew from them and what they served besides Allah, We bestowed on him Isaac and Jacob and each one of them We made a Prophet.

And We granted to them of Our Mercy; and We made them (Abraham and his sons) faithful and exalted on (all) the tongues.

And mention in the Book Moses. Surely, he was mukhlis (one utterly purified), and he was a Prophet Messenger.

And We called to him from the right side of Tur (Sinai) and draw him near to Us, so that We could converse with (reveal to) him.

And We granted him his brother Aaron as a Prophet, out of Our Mercy.

And mention Ishmael in the Book (as well). Because he was truthful to his promise, and he was a Prophet Messenger.

And he was enjoining on his family (people) the Prayer and the alms giving (Az-Zakât) and was one who was Well-Pleased with in the presence of his Lord.

And mention in the Book Idrîs (Enoch). Surely, he was a loyal Prophet

and We raised him to a High Place (to paradise).

These are those on whom Allah has bestowed from among the prophets. They are of the offspring of Adam, and of those whom We carried with Noah, and of the offspring of Abraham and Israel, and from among those We delivered to Return (submission of their spirit, physical body, soul and free will) and chose. When the Verses of the Most Beneficent were recited to them, they would fall down in prostration and weep.

So, the generation came after them neglected the prayer and followed their lusts (of their souls’ desires), so they will soon meet with “Gayy” (the lowest part of Hell),

except those who repent (before the holy teacher), become âmenû (for the second time) and do righteous deeds (cleansed the half of the vices of their souls and completely destroyed the vices of the soul doing praise). These shall enter Paradise and they will not be tyrannized in the least.

The Gardens of Eden which the Most Beneficent has promised to His servants in absentia. Surely that (The Gardens of Eden) is His promise, shall be fulfilled.

There they will not hear idle speeches, but only “Peace”, and there is their provision morning and evening.

This is Paradise which We shall give as an inheritance to those of Our servants who are owners of takwâ (the highest spiritual armour).

And he (Gabriel said): "And we (the angel messengers) do not descend except by the Command of your Lord; to Him belongs whatever is before us and whatever is behind us and whatever is between these, and your Lord is never forgetful (of you)".

Lord of the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them. So, become a servant to Him! And be patient in His servant-hood! Do you know any (one) that is named with His name?

And human says: “Shall I truly be brought forth (from the grave) alive when I am dead”?

Does not human think that how We created him before, when he was nothing?

So by your Lord, We will also most certainly gather them and the satans together. Then shall We certainly cause them to be present round Hell on their knees.

Then We will surely extract from every group those of them who were the most rebellious against the Most Beneficent.

Then, We do certainly know best those who deserve most to be exposed to it (Hell).

And each of you (without exception) will certainly enter there (in hell). This is an absolute decree on your Lord.

Then We will deliver those who are the owners of takwa (spiritual armor) and We will leave the wrong-doers on their knees.

And when Our Verses were recited and explained to them, those who disbelieve said to âmenû ones (who wish to return their spirit to Allah until death and becam true believed) “Which of the two parties is more advantageous in station and best in assembly”?

And how many of the generations have We destroyed before them who were better in respect of goods and outward appearance!

Say: “To those who are was in Darkness, the Most Beneficent will either give them a reprieve, extending the time, until they see what they were promised with, either the torment or the Hour (Doomsday)”. Then they shall know who is more in evil plight and weaker in aid.

And Allah increases the Return (submit their spirit, body, soul and will Him) those who are in Return (who wished to return their spirit to Allah in life). And the ever lasting righteous deeds are with your Lord best in recompense and best in return (as reward).

Have you, then, seen the one who (still) deny Our Verses and says: “I shall certainly be given wealth and children”?

Has he gained the knowledge of the Unseen or has he made a covenant in the presence of the Most Beneficent?

By no means! We shall write down what he says and We will lengthen to him the length of the torment.

And We will remind him (Aslin Maylu) of what he spoke, and he will appear before Us alone (without his wealth and children).

And they (idol worshippers) have taken gods besides Allah that they should be to them a source of honor.

By no means! They (idols) shall soon deny their worshipping them, and they shall be adversaries to them.

Do you not see how We send the devils upon the disbelievers, inciting them by incitement?

Therefore be not in haste against them. We only count out to them numbers (of every second of their days).

On that Day We shall gather the owners of takwa (spiritual armor) to the Most Beneficent with honor and offerings,

and We shall drive the guilty to Hell thirsty.

None may have the intercession with the Most Beneficent except the one who have accepted covenant (from Allah).

And they said: “The Most Beneficent has taken a son”.

I swear, that you have made (said) an awful thing.

The heavens would almost rupture therefrom and the earth would split open and the mountains would collapsed,

becouse they ascribed a son to the Most Beneficent.

And it is not suitable for the Most Beneficent that He should take a son.

All who are in heavens and on earth will certainly come to the Most Beneficent as slaves.

I swear, that He has counted and determined them one by one.

And all one of them will come to Him on the Day of Resurrection alone.

Surely, the Most Beneficent will make loved those who have become amenu (obey the holy teacher) and do righteous deeds (purify their soul).

So We have only made it (the Qur’ân) easy in your tongue that you may give glad tidings thereby to the owners of takwa (spiritual armor) and warn thereby of the stubborn people.

And how many a generation have We destroyed before them? Do you see any one of them or hear even the slightest sound from them?
