The Light

(This is) a chapter (Sûrah) which We have sent down and made obligatory (some verses of it). And We sent down explained Verses in it with Clear proofs, that perhaps you may deliberate.

The adulteress and the adulterer, flog each of them a hundred stripes (that affects the skin only) and let not pity for them detain you concerning the application of Allah’s Religion, if you believe in Allah and the Last Day, and let a party of the believers witness their torment.

The adulterer cannot marry other than an adulteress or a polytheist and as for the adulteress; none can marry her except an adulterer or a polytheist. And it’s forbidden to believers.

And for those who accuse chaste women, then cannot bring four witnesses, flog them with eighty stripes (that affects the skin only) and never accept their witnessing, and they are the ungodly ones.

Except those who repent after this and improve. Verily, Allah is Oft-Forgiving (Replace our sins with good), Most Merciful (the One who acting with His Name Mercy).

And those who accuse their wives of adultery, if they have no witnesses but themselves, then the testimony of each of them shall be a testimony sworn by Allah four times repeated, that he is indeed of the truthful ones (of those who speak the truth).

And the fifth (testimony) is that Allah’s Curse be upon him if he is one of the liars.

And it shall avert the torment (punishment) from her if she bears witness four times by Allah, that he (her husband) is most surely one of the liars.

And the fifth (testimony) that the Wrath of Allah be upon her if he is one of the truthful (if he has spoken the truth).

And if it had not been for the Generosity (light) and His Mercy (light) of Allah upon you (you would have under-gone a punishment)! And that Allah is Tevvab (the One Who accepts repentance), the All-Wise (the Owner of Wisdom and Judgment).

Surely those who brought forth the slander (against Âishah) are a group from among you. Do not regard it an evil for you; nay, it is good for you. For each of them there is what he has earned of the sin (punishment); and as for him among them who had managed (concocted and spread) to the greater part of it, for him there is a greatest torment.

Shouldn’t for believing men and believing women, having heard this (this slander), in themselves think good and say: "This is a manifest slander!"

Shouldn’t they have brought four witnesses of it. Since they did not bring the witnesses, they the liars with Allah.

And had it not been for the Generosity (light) and His Mercy (light) of Allah unto you in this world and in the Hereafter, a greatest torment would have touched you because of that which you entered into (the slander and backbiting).

You were telling it (about slander) with your tongues and uttered with your mouths that of which you had no knowledge, and you deemed it an unimportant, while with Allah it was very great (crime).

And when you heard this, should not you to say: “it does not beseem us that we should talk of it; glory be to You! This is a great calumny”?

Allah preaches (commands) you that you should not return to the like of it ever again if you are believers.

And Allah makes clear to you His Verses; and Allah is All-Knowing, All- Wise (the Owner of Wisdom and Judgment).

As for those who love that indecency (adultery, shameful events, slander, evil) should spread among those who are amenu (true believers), for them there is a painful torment in this world and the Hereafter; and Allah knows, while you do not know.

And if it had not been for the Generosity (light) and His Mercy (light) of Allah on you (He would have tormented you) and surely Allah is Compassionate, Most Merciful.

O you who believe (who are âmenû, who wish their spirits to reach Allahbefore death), do not follow the footsteps of Satan! And whosoever follows the footsteps of Satan, then surely, he commands (every) abomination and evil (the denial and all that Allah has forbidden). And if it had not been for the Generosity and Mercy of Allah unto you (if these lights had not be placed into the hearts of your souls), none of you could have ever cleansed his soul, but Allah cleanses the souls of whom He wills and Allah is All-Hearing, All- Knowing.

And let not those of you who possess Generosity and Wealth swear against giving to the near of kin and to the needy and to the emigrants in the Way of Allah; let them pardon and be indulgent. Do you not love when Allah forgives you? And Allah is Oft-Forgiving (Replace our sins with good), Most Merciful (Sending light Mercy).

Those who slander chaste and believing women (without their knowledge), are cursed in the world and the Hereafter. And for them there is a greatest torment.

On that day, what they did will be witness to them (in their life films) by their tongues, hands and feet.

On the Day of Permission, Allah will justly pay them according to their merits (for the negative and positive degrees they have acquired) and they shall know that Allah is the Manifest Truth (who expounds the truth, fulfils it).

Vile women are for the vile men, and the vile men are for the vile women. And the clean women are for the clean men. The clean men are for the clean women. They are far from what they say (about them). For them is Forgiveness (replacement of sins with good) and a generous provision (offered by Allah).

O you who believe! Do not enter houses other than your own houses, until you ask for permission, and salute those in them. This is better for you, that you may deliberate.

And if you do not find any one therein, then do not enter them until permission is given to you. And if you are asked to go back, then go back; this is purer (appropriate) for you; and Allah is All-Knowing of what you do.

There is no sin on you that you enter uninhabited houses wherein is a benefit for you. And Allah knows what you do openly and what you hide.

Say to the believing men that they cast down their looks (they keep away from prohibited), guard their chastity; that is purer for them. Surely Allah is All- Aware of what they do.

And say to the believing women that they cast down their looks (they keep away from prohibited) and guard their chastity. They should not display their ornaments except what is visible (hands, face and feet), and let them wear (cover) their head-coverings over their collar. And they should not display their ornaments except to their husbands or their fathers, or the fathers of their husbands, or their sons, or the sons of their husbands, or their brothers, or their brothers’ sons, or their sisters’ sons, or women, or those whom their right hands possess (concubines), or the male servants not having need of women, or the children who do not know about female nakedness. And let them not stamp their feet so that what they hide of their ornaments may be known. O believers, everyone repent to Allah! So that you may have Salvation.

And marry unmarried men and unmarried women from among you, and from your slaves to the righteous. If they are poor, Allah will enrich them out of His Generosity. And Allah is Possessor of Generosity (His Bestowals, His Blessings are abundant), All-Knowing.

And let those who do not find the means to marry keep themselves chaste, until Allah enriches them of His Generosity. And those who ask for a writing (of emancipation) from among those whom your right hands possess (your male and female slaves) give them the writing (of emancipation) if you know any good in them, and give them of the wealth which Allah has given you. And do not compel your slave girls to debauchery (fornication), when they desire to protect their chastity, in order to seek the frail good of this world’s life. Whoever compels them, then surely after their compulsion, Allah is Oft- Forgiving (Replacing sins with good), Most Merciful (the One acting with His Name Mercy).

And I swear, We have sent down to you clear Verses and an example of those who have passed away before you, and an admonition to those who are the owners of takwa (spiritual armor).

Allah is the Light of the heavens and the earth. His Light is like the shining light that is in the lamp. The lamp is enclosed in glass, and the glass is like a shining pearl star, lit from an oil of a blessed tree that is neither in the east nor in the west. The oil whereof gives light on its own, even if no fire touches it. (It is) a light upon light. Allah will turn (enter) into His Light whom He wills and Allah sets forth parables for mankind. And Allah is All-Knowing of everything.

(Allah’s Light is) in houses which Allah has permitted His Name to be exalted and praise in them. There they glorify Him in the mornings and the evenings.

They are such people, whom neither merchandise nor selling diverts from the praising (Dhikr) of Allah, and the keeping up of the Prayer and the giving of the alms. They fear a Day when the hearts and eyes will be overturned (of terror).

Allah increases for them from His Generosity (light) to recompense them in a best way for what they did; and Allah gives immeasurable provision to whom He wills.

And those who disbelieve, their deeds are like a mirage in a desert. The thirsty one deemed it to be water; when he came up to it, he found nothing; and there he found Allah (against him). So (Allah) paid him his reckoning in full. And Allah is Swift at reckoning.

Or they (their deeds) are like darkness in the deep of the sea, which is covered by wave after wave, and above it there are clouds. Darkness upon darkness. When he stretches out his hand, he can hardly see it! And for whom Allah has not given light, for him there is no light.

Did you not see that the heavens and the earth and the birds in lines glorify Allah? They all know the prayer and their glorification. And Allah is All- Knowing of what they do.

And Allah’s is the Sovereignty of the heavens and the earth and to Allah is the return.

Do you not see that Allah sets the clouds in motion, then joins them together, then makes them into a pile (of clouds)? And you will see that the rain is pouring through them. And He brings down from the sky mountains of clouds full of hail. He strikes with it whom He wills, and alienates him from whom He wills. The brilliance of his lightning almost blinds the eyes.

Allah alternates the night and the day. Most surely there is a lesson in this for those who have insight (have sight soul).

And Allah has created every animal from water. Some of them walk upon their belly, some walk upon their two feet and some walk upon four feet. Allah creates what He wills. Surely Allah is Omnipotent.

I swear, We have sent down Verses that explain. Allah enters whom He wills to Sıratı Mustakîm (the path of guidance that leads to Allah).

And they say: “We have believed in Allah and in the Messenger, and We obeyed”. Then a party of them turn back after this; and these are not believers.

And when they are called to Allah and His Messenger that he may judge between them, a party of them turn their faces away.

And if the truth is on their side (and this can only be reached by wishing to return your spirit to Allah during life), they quickly come to him (and obey him).

Is there in their hearts a disease, or are they in doubt, or do they fear that Allah and His Messenger deal with them unfairly? Nay! They themselves are the unjust.

And when the believers are invited to Allah and His Messenger to judge between them, they speak words: “We have heard and we obeyed”. And these it is who have Salvation.

And whosoever obeys Allah and His Messenger, and feels reverence towards Allah and becomes the owner of takwa (spiritual armor) towards Him, these it is that are the achievers of Salvation.

And they (the hypocrites) swear by Allah their strongest oaths that if you commanded them they would certainly go forth (to fight). Say: “Do not swear! This obedience is already known (to Allah). Surely Allah is Well-Aware of what you do”.

Say: “Obey Allah and the Messenger. But if you turn away (do not obey) after that, then only the burden of his duty is on him (to convey)”. And the burden of your duty is on you. If you obey him, you reach Return (your spirits will be returned to Allah in life). No responsibility rests on the Messenger but clear conveying.

Allah has promised to those of you who believe (who are âmenû, who wish their spirits to reach Allah before death) and do righteous deeds (that cleanses the soul) that He will most certainly make them successors (Caliphs) in the earth as He made successors those before them, and that He will most certainly strengthen for them their Religion with which He has been pleased, and that He will most certainly, after their fear, give them security in exchange. They become servants to Me, they do not associate anything with Me. Whoever denies after this, then they are ungodly ones.

And keep up the Prayer and pay alms (Az-Zâkât) and obey the Messenger, that perhaps you may receive mercy.

Do not think that the disbelievers can make (Allah) incapable in the earth. And their abode is the Fire; and certainly, evil is their destination.

O you who believe (who are âmenû)! Let those whom under your command (your male and female slaves) and those of you who have not attained the age of majority ask permission of you during three occasions: before the prayer of dawn, when you put off your clothes at midday, and after the prayer of the nightfall. These are three occasions of nakedness for you (that they need to stay away from you). There is no sin on you and on them to enter to each other, except in these (three) occasions. Thus, does Allah make clear to you the Verses. And Allah is All-Knowing, All-Wise.

And when the (your) children among you have attained the age of majority, let them ask permission as those before them asked permission. Thus, does Allah make clear to you His Verses, and Allah is All-Knowing, All-Wise.

And old women who have no hope of marriage, it is no blame (sin) for them if they put off their outer clothes without displaying their ornaments. To wish to remain chaste is better for them. And Allah is All-Hearing, All-Knowing.

There is no difficulty on the blind, or on the handicapped, or on the sick. Nor there is a difficulty on yourselves that you eat in your houses, or your fathers’ houses or your mothers’ houses, or your brothers’ houses, or your sisters’ houses, or your paternal uncles’ houses, or your paternal aunts’ houses, or your maternal uncles’ houses, or your maternal aunts’ houses, or what you possess the keys of, or at your friends. It is no sin for you that you eat together or separately. When you enter houses, salute one another with a greeting from Allah, blessed and goodly! Thus, does Allah make clear to you His Verses that you may use your intellect.

Only those who are amenu (who returned their spirits to Allah) in Allah and His Messenger do not go away until they have asked his permission when they are with him on a certain affair. Surely those who ask your permission are those who believe in Allah and His Messenger. So, when they ask your permission for some affair of theirs, give permission to whom you will of them and ask forgiveness for them from Allah. Surely Allah is Oft-Forgiving (Replacing sins with good), Most Merciful (the One acting with His Name Mercy).

Do not hold the Messenger’s calling among you to be like your calling one to the other! Allah indeed knew those who left secretly concealing themselves behind others. Therefore, let those who go against his order beware lest a trial should befall them or a painful torment be inflicted on them.

Now surely Allah’s is whatever is in the heavens and the earth, are they not? He knew that on which you were (what was in your hearts). And on the Day on which they are returned to Him, He will inform them of what they did; and Allah is All-Knowing of everything.

24:32

وَأَنْكِحُوا الْأَيَامَىٰ مِنْكُمْ وَالصَّالِحِينَ مِنْ عِبَادِكُمْ وَإِمَائِكُمْ ۚ إِنْ يَكُونُوا فُقَرَاءَ يُغْنِهِمُ اللَّهُ مِنْ فَضْلِهِ ۗ وَاللَّهُ وَاسِعٌ عَلِيمٌ

Va ankihool ayeamea minkum vas sealiheena min ibeadikum va imeaikum, in yakoonoo fukaareaa yugnihimulleahu min faadlih(faadlihee), vaalleahu veasiun aaleem(aaleemun).
