Luqman

Alif-Lam-Mim.

These are the Verses of the Book that is All-Wise (full of Wisdom and Judgment),

which are Return (guide to submission) and a Mercy for the Al-Muhsinun,

who keep up the Prayer and pay Alms (Zakat) and they have faith in the Hereafter (reaching spirit to Allah before death) with certainty.

These are on a Return from their Lord (wished to return their spirits to Allah), and these are they who are in Salvation.

And some of those who purchase frivolous discourse to lead astray from the Way of Allah without knowledge and they make it for a mockery. For such there is a humiliating torment.

And when Our Verses are recited to him, he turns back in pride as if he had not heard them, as though in his ears were heaviness (hearing obstacle). Therefore give him tidings (warning) of a painful torment.

As for those who believe (are Amenû, who wish their spirits to reach Allahwhile they are living) and do righteous deeds (do the soul’s purification), for them are heavens of Naim,

in which they will to abide forever. The Promise of Allah is true and He is the Majestic, the All-Wise (the Owner of Wisdom and Judgment).

He created the skies without pillars as you see them and has cast in the earth firm mountains lest it might shake you. He spread in it walking creatures of every kind. And We sent down water from the sky, hence caused to grow therein of every pair of useful plants.

This is Allah’s creation. So, show Me what those besides Him have created. Nay, the tyrants are in manifest Darkness.

And I swear, We gave wisdom to Luqman for him to be grateful to Allah. And whoever is grateful, he is only grateful for his own soul and whoever is ungrateful (denies), then Allah is All-Sufficient (does not need anyone’s gratefulness), All-Praised (Praiseworthy).

And Luqman said to his son while instructing him: “O my son! Do not associate anything with Allah! Surely polytheism is, of course, a greatest evil.

And We have enjoined on human (to be care) to their parents. His mother bore him in difficulty upon difficulty and his weaning is in two years. Be grateful to Me and to both your parents! The return is to Me.

And if they strive with you that you should associate with Me that of which You have no knowledge, do not obey neither of them! And deal with them in this world kindly. Follow the Way of those who turned to Me (who wished to have their spirits reach Me), then (after dead) to Me is your return. Then will I inform you of what you used to do.

O my child! Surely if it (your deed) is the very weight of the grain of a mustard- seed, even though it is in a rock, or in the heavens or in the earth, Allah will bring it (before you in your life film on the Day of Resurrection). Surely Allah is Subtle (Owner of subtleties, Kind), All-Aware.

O my child, keep up the Prayer! Enjoin Al-Marûf (command with religious knowledge and goodness) and forbid from Al-Munkar (denial, all that Allah has forbidden and evil) and bear with patience whatever befalls you. Surely these are of the affairs to be fulfilled upon.

And do not turn your face away from people (in pride) nor go about in the land exulting over much. Surely Allah does not love any self-conceited boaster.

Be modest in your walking and lower your voice. Surely the ugliest of all voices is the braying of the donkey.

Did you not see that Allah has made what is in the heavens and what is in the earth subservient to you? And completed His visible and invisible (overt and covert) gifts upon you? But some of the mankind (still) argue about Allah, having neither knowledge, nor one who turns (to Allah), nor an enlightening Book.

And when it is said to them: “Follow what (the Book) Allah has sent down”, they say: “Nay, we follow that (the idols) on which we found our fathers”. And even if Satan calls them to the torment of the burning fire (Hell)?

And whoever, being a muhsin, subdues his physical body to Allah, so he grasped a reliable handle. And the end of all affairs (reaches) to Allah.

And whoever deny let not his deny grieve you! Their return (after dead) is to Us, then will We inform them of what they did. Surely Allah is All-Knowing of what is in the bosoms.

We give them used a little, then We expose them to a heavy torment.

And if you ask them: “Who created the heavens and the earth?” they certainly say: “Allah”. Say: “All praise is due to Allah”. Nay! Most of them do not know.

What is in the heavens and the earth is Allah’s. Surely Allah, He is Self- Sufficient (All-Rich, Free of all needs), the All-Praised.

Surely Allah is Majestic, All-Wise.

Your creation and resurrection is the same as the creation and resurrection of one soul. Surely Allah is All-Hearing, All-Seeing.

Did you not see that Allah brings the night to pass into the day and brings the day to pass into the night? (Allah) has subjected (the earth) the sun and the moon. All pursues its course (orbit) till an appointed term. Surely Allah is All- Informed of what you do.

This is because Allah is the Truth, and that which they worship besides Him is the falsehood. Certainly Allah, He is the Most Exalted, the Greatest.

Did you not see that the ships sail through the sea by Allah’s Gift to show you of His Signs? Most surely there are Signs in this for every very patiently, grateful one.

And when the waves overwhelm them like dark shadows, they call upon Allah, making their religion pure for Him only. Then when We bring them safe to the land, then some of them behave moderately. None denies knowingly Our Verses but every very perfidious, very ungrateful one.

O mankind! Be the owners of takwa (spiritual armor) towards your Lord and dread the Day when a father will not be able to answer (help) his son nor will the son be able to answer his father. Surely the Promise of Allah is the truth, therefore let not the life of the world deceive you, nor let the Garûr (pride) deceive you against Allah.

Surely is the knowledge of the Hour (of the Day of Resurrection) with Allah and He sends down the rain and He knows what is in the wombs. No one knows what they will earn tomorrow and no one knows in where on earth he will die. Surely Allah is All-Knowing, All-Aware.
