3Forbidden to you (for food) are carrion, and blood, and
flesh of swine, and that on which any other name than that
of Allah has been invoked, and that which has been killed
by strangling, or by a violent blow, or by a headlong fall, or
by the goring of horns-and that which has been eaten by a
wild animal-unless you are able to slaughter it (before its
death) –and that which is slaughtered for idols and that
you settle matters with fortune-arrows; (all) that is a
ungodliness. This day, those who disbelieved have given
up all hope of your religion as they could not turn you back
of it, so do not fear them, and fear Me. Today I have
completed your religion and completed My Gift over you.
And I am pleased with Islam as a religion for you. But
whoever is compelled (to eat) by severe hunger, not
inclining willfully to sin, then surely Allah is Oft-Forgiving
(Replacing sins with good), Most Merciful .
