The Ascending Stairways

One willing (of the unbelievers) demanded the condition (torment) that will befall.

For the unbelievers, there is none to avert it.

(That torment is) from Allah, the Owner of the Maarij (High Degrees).

To Him ascend the angels and the Spirit in a Day the measure of which is fifty thousand years.

So be patient with a beautiful patience!

Surely they see it (the torment that will occur for the unbelievers) far off.

And We see it being near.

On that Day (of Torment) the sky will be as molten metal.

And the mountains will be as multicolored flakes of wool (flying around in pieces).

And (on that day) no intimate friend asks of another intimate friend.

They shall be shown to one another. The sinner to redeem himself from the torment of that Day hopes to offer as ransom his sons,

and his own wife and his brother,

and his kindred who sheltered him,

and (to give) all that are in the earth, so that he might save himself.

By no means! Surely it (what he wants to be saved from) is a flaming Fire,

which burns and scorches the skin of the head.

(The hell) calls him who turns his back and turns away his face (from Faith),

and him who collected (commodities, wealth) then hoarded them.

Surely the human is created impatient and greedy.

When an evil touches him, he cries out.

And he is stingy when a good touches him.

Except those who perform prayer.

They are the ones who continue to their prayer.

And they are the ones in whose wealth there is a recognized right.

for those who ask and the destitute.

And they confirm the Day of the Religion.

And they are the ones who are fearful of the Torment of their Lord.

Surely, it is impossible to be sure from the Torment of their Lord.

And they are the ones who guard their chastity,

except with their spouses and those whom their right hands possess (their concubines), because they surely are not blamed.

After this whoever seeks beyond that, these it is that has exceed the limit!

And they are the ones who comply with their trusts and their covenants.

And they are the ones who steadfast to their testimonies.

And they are the ones who keep a guard on their prayer (they continue to pray).

Those are the ones who are served in paradises.

Why all of a sudden did those who disbelieve start to run fast towards you,

from the right and left, in scattered groups?

Do they all hope to enter the Naîm paradise?

By no means! Surely We have created them of what they know.

But nay (It is not so)! I swear by the Lord of the Easts and the Wests, that We are certainly Able

to replace them by others better than them! And We are not to be stopped.

Now leave them, let them plunge in vain talk and play until they meet their Day which they are promised.

The Day when they shall come out of their graves quickly, they are as racing to a goal.

Their eyes are in fear, abasement covers them. This is the Day which they were promised!

70:44

Al-Haqqah

Nuh

خَاشِعَةً أَبْصَارُهُمْ تَرْهَقُهُمْ ذِلَّةٌ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ الْيَوْمُ الَّذِي كَانُوا يُوعَدُونَ

Heashi’aatan absearuhum tarhakuhum zillah(zillatun), zealikal yavmullazee keanoo yooaadoon(yooaadoona).

Their eyes are in fear, abasement covers them. This is the Day which they were promised!
