Al-A'la Verse 1 - Glorify the Name of Âlâ the Most Glorious of your Lord

The Most High

Glorify the Name of Âlâ (the Most Glorious) of your Lord.

That He has created, then proportioned (designed it),

and that He has decreed a destiny. Then turned (done everything in due time),

and that He brought forth the herbage (greens) from earth,

then turned it into black refuse (turned it into petroleum).

We will make you recite (the Qur’ân) so you will not forget it.

Nevertheless (this is) what Allah wills; surely, He knows what is manifest, and what is hidden.

And We shall make (it) easy for you so that it may be easy.

Therefore, do Dhikr (teach Dhikr, give admonition), in case the Dhikr (the admonition) shall benefit.t.

He who is in reverence towards Allah will do Dhikr (praise, repeat the Name of Allah and deliberate).

And the most unfortunate one will avoid it (Dhikr),

which shall be flung into a great Fire.

Then, in it (the fire) he shall neither die nor find life.

Whosoever cleansed (half of) his soul is in Salvation.

And he (that is, the one who cleansed the soul) began to praise the Name of His Lord and performed prayers.

Nay! You prefer the life of this world.

And the life of the Hereafter is better and lasting.

Most surely this is indeed in the former Pages as well (the Qur’ân).

(and also) in the pages of Abraham and Moses.

87:1

سَبِّحِ اسْمَ رَبِّكَ الْأَعْلَى

Sabbihısma raabbikal aa’lea.

Glorify the Name of Âlâ (the Most Glorious) of your Lord.
